Opportunity: Principal – Public Sector

We work with clients across all industry sectors. We have recently strengthened our Public Sector offering and are now looking for a Principal to join the team.

About the Principal role

  • Lead strategy and transformation consulting engagements of various sizes within the Public Sector
  • Maintain and expand his/her existing network of relevant C-Suite relationships in public sector organisations
  • Have a strong focus on business development for front line selling of consulting services 
  • Mount and execute proposition-based campaigns to market to drive new leads/stoke existing ones
  • Manage bids and pitches through to close
  • Proactively be engaged with internal contribution activities of the practice such as running training courses, building propositions, supporting on marketing activities
  • Present consulting services at conferences and webinars, and via digital marketing channels
  • Support the practice by identifying and contributing to Thought Leadership
  • Act as a mentor to more junior consultants within the team

What we’re looking for

  • At least 10 years’ experience as a management consultant, ideally at least 2-3 years at Principal Consultant or Director level within a recognised strategy house, major multi-disciplinary practice 
  • A specialist Healthcare sector focus would be an advantage 
  • Proven capability leading strategy, operational improvement, organisational design, operating model design and/or digital transformation consulting engagements within the Public Sector 
  • Familiarity/knowledge of public sector consulting procurement process
  • Experience in managing annual revenue between £1m – £2m fee income and have contributed from £750k upwards in extension and new sales 
  • Evidence of successful major programme design and delivery engagements 
  • An established network of valuable contacts that will provide pipeline opportunities
  • Demonstrable experience of winning new business in both ‘existing account expansion’ and ‘new client win’ opportunities 
  • Confident with low ego, adept communicator, with humility and sense of humour, passion for very high-quality consulting output and outcomes-driven 
  • Technically strong across the consulting skillset: analytically expert, insight-driven, adept business modeller and problem-solver, a trusted advisor practitioner, will have A-Z of change management and transformation skills 
  • Proven team-leading, stakeholder management and client relationship-building skills at senior management, executive committee and C-Suite levels
  • Possess the energy, motivation, enthusiasm and desire to progress to Partner level 
  • Logical thinking and strategic analytical skills
  • An MBA from a quality internationally recognised Business School is desirable
